Pink Shimmer Head Band Bow

I cant wait to wear this out! It's the perfect piece to compliment a cute New Years Eve Night Out!!!!

Hello Kitty Decoupaged!!!!

My camera was the unfortunate victim of a final lesson I needed to learn! So please excuse the quality of these pics- Im making lemonade out of oranges. :-)

I did my first Decoupage project today. I used Mod Podge. (I must admit I have fallen in LOVE with it- Im hunting around my house for what I could decoupage next!) I woke up on the Glitter side of the bed- and did this eeeearly in the morning. It is a very messy project. My nails still have glue on them (4 hours later) The finished product has some wrinkles in it- which I haven't quite figured out if they are mistakes or not- what I have decided is that I LOVE it the way it is.

This is the Hello Kitty Bank originally. My mom bought it for me at a flea market (she knew I had one already at home and thought it would make a great addition to my collection) I liked it when I first got it- but I wasn't thrilled with the colors and the paint job was quite poor on it.

This is the finished product!!

You cant tell from the picture- I know sorry!!!- but I used Glitter Mod Podge to give it that last umph! it needed. Isn't the cutest thing???

I took a pic of the other Hello Kitty Bank I had- just to share! I loooove how she winks! lol

Oh My Word- there is a tut for it!!!

Hurry! Click here

O. M. G.

I must have died and gone to heaven when I saw these- and they altered with Mod Podge!?!? I have a pair of shoes my dogs tore up- that I havent been able to part with- and thank God I haven't! I have the PERFECT fabric for them. I wish there were a tutorial somewhere on how to do this- I am just going to dive in and go for it!!! I found this here (Via)

Resin Tips anyone?

Ok so I've been playing around with Resin for the past few days and have definitely picked up a few pointers from my mistakes and stuff. I also have read alot about it in forums and have picked up great tips there. Im trying to generate some traffic into my blog and I think by sharing some Resin Tips, Ill reach my goal.

SO here are a few pointers-

Want to get glitter into your resin piece? Here's what you do. When you are mixing your resin (I use envirotex-lite, I read it has the least odor- and pretty popular with fellow resin users- its the only one I have used thus far so I cant compare it to other resin's) when you are mixing your chemicals together pour in the glitter you want to use. I suggest using a color that is visible and vibrant in the jar- Angel Dust did NOT work well for me. It didnt show up and showcased the air bubbles. If it is a color that shows up nice and bright in the jar-in my opinion- then it will show up nice and bright in your resin.

My favorite tip for Resin use, is on how to get the air bubbles out. The popular methods are to either blow over the resin piece with- usually- a straw, or to use a toothpick or tweezer to pop the lil' hard suckers. While these methods do work, I have found that using a heat gun works much better. I use my embossing gun- that I purchased for about $20 at Michaels. I move the gun over the resin piece- I make mirrors so I move it in a swiping motion over the resin I poured. All the bubbles pop immediately after swiping over it- its actually a pretty cool affect. There is some science behind why this happens something about the carbon dioxide- but lord help me if I understand all that lol.

So those are my two tips for now- lets see what kind of traffic this post brings. I'll write some more tips as I keep using the resin.

Making Mirror Magic!

Here is a sneak peak into the mirrors im working on- This is like my "test" batch- Im new when working with resin- and mod podge so there are a few things I need practice, like how to minimize air bubbles!

Resin is not something I am going to be able to work with often- I have 2 chihuahuas and 2 parakeets in my (tiny Brooklyn) apartment. I dont want the fumes to give them has already given me a headache after 15 minutes of use. On another note I am SO addicted to Seinfeld. I only own season 7 right now and have played it SO often I have lines memorized! lol I hope to be able to buy the complete season for X-Mas or atleast receive it as a gift!

RhineSTONED Clock (It's Altered!)

I fell in love with this clock when I saw it on the store that time it didnt have the RhineSTONES. I've never used it and decided it was time to do something with it, so I am selling it! I glitzed it up with some Maroon RhineSTONES. At first I almost kept it for myself...but I think its begging for a new home. :-)

RhineSTONED Initial

This was a lovely unfinished wood Initial "G" I painted the edges a Fucshia and the top white. I then adhered Rhinestones all over the front to make it Fabulous! I havent decided on where to hang it- but when I do I'll definitely let you know!

"Amazon Blue" Head Piece

This is an amazing blue (which reminds me of the amazon- hence the name) feather piece attached to a black head band. I also attached a small sequin piece to the bottom of the feathers to gliz it up.

Western Curly Pink Head Piece

These are SO in style right now! Its a pink curly feather piece attached to a black thin headband. A pink beaded (altered) button ties the whole look together

"Flirtation" Head Piece

I call this my Flirtation Head Piece. I put the feather on this one by one- The beads are an awesome button I altered and attached to the headband.

Sea Pocket Mirror

As I was sorting my Rhinestones these colors ended up next to eachother and inspired me to create this design. Dark blue Sea Fade to Dark Green

Red Altered Pocket Mirror

Different sized Red Rhinestones cover the front of this Pocket Mirror. Its Spray painted with Metallic Gold and Sprayed with Varnish to protect the paint (as much as possible)

Pink N Teal Altered Mirror

I made this one for me. When I first started making these mirrors I was going to paint them abunch of different colors with Acrylic paint- but boy o boy was that not working out! lol (Im sure I needed some type of primer- and couldnt find my sanding paper to rough up the surface and hope the paint adhered better to it) I love pink so much and dont have the funds right now to buy pink spray paint- I just kept two with Acrylic paint and am bracing myself for it to scratch off (slightly) BTW I used "Varnish" spray after I paint these to keep the paint as much in tack as possible. (Michaels folks recommended it to me)

I cant wait to pull this out and use it! I wanted to use different shades of pink and added the aqua rhinestones for a cute effect. I think it just brings the whole design together. :-)

Simply Altered Flower Glitter BOMB Rings

Altered White Rings- I call them my Flower Glitter BOMB Rings dont they look like little glitter bombs went off!

^ This is what I started with- a closed up plain bud)

^Here it is with a gem inside- I simply used a hot glue gun to adhere the Rhinestone in the middle. I can use any color- As you know I LOVE pink- so the first one is pink (period)

^I think it looks best like this a little pucked up. I can not WAIT to show these off on my fingers! I have more colors- I'll take pics as soon as I can!

Altered Pocket Mirrors

I wish I would have taken a pic of these mirrors before- but I wasnt aware they would turn out so FABULOUS!!! I used "Metallic Gold" Spray Paint. (I also used Pink Acrylic Paint- but it didnt stick to the mirrors as well as the spray paint did) I covered them with "Glitter" Spray Paint as well. I adhered the rhinestones in different colors and designs with my hot glue gun. I have like 6 or 8 more to make- so STAY TUNED!
